Can I claim compensation for assault by my neighbor?

I recently got into a fight with my neighbour through no fault of my own and I would like to claim compensation.
He is always being aggressive and has made threats to me and I have reported him to the police before, the other day I got into a fight with him and ended up suffering a broken jaw, can I claim compensation and if so how much could I be entitled to?
