Injured in road traffic accident, driver did not give way, am I entitled to compensation?

I was in a road traffic accident that was not my fault, me and my partner were both injured and we would like to claim compensation together.

I would like to do a claim for personal injuries, I have been involved in one car accident were I hurt my knee and my partner suffered whiplash.

The car crash was not our fault but I did crashed into the other car because he did not give me way and as he was coming from a small road we have priority according to highway code.

I have had a pain on my knee and my partner has pain in neck since the collision.

Doctors in hospital said I have fractured my knee and would be unable to work for a couple of months and said my partner has severe whiplash and also has not been able to do her job.

Please help me to do the steps, I need to claim back lost wages as loss of earnings.

Is the other driver liable in this accident?

Do i have to pay you something to start a claim for compensation?

And how long takes to sort out a personal injury claim?
