Can I claim compensation for the death of a parent in a care for neglect home if they are elderly?

My father recently passed away after spending the last few years of his life in a care home.

While staying under the care of the home his health deteriorated and he was neglected and suffered many problems I believed helped cause his death.

He was elderly and me and my sister are both fully grown and independent, could we still claim compensation for medical negligence?
