Can I claim compensation for medical negligence for bad advice from a hospital?

I recently suffered chemical burns to my scalp from getting my hair bleached in a hair salon, when I went to the hospital a member of staff told me to just put cream on the burns which I did and it got worse, then I read online you should not put cream on chemical burns, can I claim compensation?
