Can I claim compensation for a severe knee injury from a trip and fall accident in a Supermarket?

I had a bad trip and fall accident about a year ago and severely injured my knee.

I was in a supermarket when I caught my shoe on a tripping hazard and went over landing on my knee, it was very painful at the time and I limped for about a week after and took a week off from my job as I was unable to work.

I Put up with pain until a few months ago when I booked an appointment with my GP, when I went to my doctors I had an mri scan in hospital and I am now been told I need a operation on my knee to put in a surgical replacement, had no problems wth my joint before this fall.

The supermarket are liable for my accident and injuries, I was a customer just sorting some shopping bags on a chair on the way out, after being served at the till, there were a bunch chairs next to each other, cluttering up the tills as I moved away my foot got caught between chair leg that was sticking out and I just went face first forward and landed heavy on my knee cap.

I want to claim compensation from the supermarket for my personal injury and for loss of earnings as I have missed work, am I obliged to continue to court making a claim if I'm not sure of anything.

I was just looking for some free legal advice.

Medical evidence is obtained to both prove causation (the injuries where sustained as a direct result of the incident that has occurred) and provide a basis upon which we as your legal representative can accurately place a valuation upon your claim.
